Prayer Requests
Current Prayer Needs - Praise Reports
Missionaries need intercessors more than admirers. They need prayers more than donors. They live and work in the enemy's territory and become the special object of Satan's attack. Support your missionaries by praying for them.

Current Prayer Needs
Pray for the Jonats as they continue their work in Malawi.
Please pray about how you can get involved:
You can pray, you can help with financial support, you can come! What Will You Do?
Most Recent
- Summer holidays are here again. Praise God for the wonderful Christian school He provided for Tembi and Karis. They had a wonderful year and now it is time for holiday fun.
- Many of you will remember the Friday Foto of my friend Ellen Kumbani.
Ellen's husband died very suddenly last Thursday. The trauma of the death and funeral caused Ellen to go into sudden and premature labour. She delivered a baby girl who is doing fine at this time. Life will be very difficult for Ellen now; pray for her that God would be her comfort and strength at this very difficult time and that He will sustain her in the times ahead. We have been asked to provide her with all the baby needs as well as food supplies and extras, pray that God helps us to meet this need. - We have more teams still to come over the next few months. Pray that God will give us creative ideas for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the country of Malawi. Pray for safety on the roads as Wes and the teams travel throughout the villages, there are so many people walking or riding bikes that it is often hazardous for driving. Pray that God protects us from ever hitting anyone with our vehicles.
- Pray for the country of Malawi. We are heading into an election year next year and already the turmoil has come. There have been riots and shootings as the political parties do battle. In May an attempted coup was discovered—this lead to a lot of accusations and suspicion. The country has been a safe and stable one but we realize that anything can change at any time.
- Meet Robert Mutumba.
Upon his release he needed $30 to get him on a bus heading for Tanzania where there is a Ugandan consulate that might help him. After spending many nights sleeping on the streets or in store fronts being beaten by police and security guards, he was hungry and desperate. Someone told him if he could get to the house of the missionary and speak to them, he would get help. We have fed him, encouraged him and given him enough bus money for the trip and for food along the way. We put a bible in his hands and prayed that God would help him find his way home. Will you continue to pray for him as he makes this long and lonely journey? - Pray for Shadreck Banda, we are assisting him to get his truck-drivers license. He is taking a 40-day driving course and then will take the exam. Having his drivers license is a tool that he will be able to use to find decent, higher paying employment which will allow him to provide for his family. It is a difficult course so pray that he works hard and stays focused. It will be a tremendous help to the work in Malawi having another driver available when we are doing famine relief or work projects.
Continuing Needs
- Please fervently uphold the Jonats as a family and pray for God's almighty spiritual protection. Wes and Lorrie are relentlessly engaged in the battle of transforming lives for the Kingdom of God and the enemy doesn't like that at all.
- Please pray that the Lord would protect the Jonats from any physical harm and would bless them with energy and vitality to do the work He has called them to.
- The Jonats do not work alone—they have a team both in Malawi and throughout Canada and the United States. Please pray for unity, that all would be of one accord for the sake of the gospel. Pray for those who are currently preparing for, or are on a short-term missions trip—pray that they would be a blessing to the Jonats and the country of Malawi bringing encouragement and support. Pray for our financial partners that God would bless them as they assist us and enable us to live and work amongst the people of Malawi.
- Pray for what is happening in ACOP Malawi, with the Orphan Feeding Centers and with Bags of Hope, pray for the Lord's clear guidance and vision for the future.
- Pray for Tembi and Karis—pray for God's continued blessing and protection over the girls (birth date Nov. 16, 1999). Pray that they would grow more and more in love with the Lord as they recognize that they too are called of God as missionaries in a foreign land.
- Pray for Wes and Lorrie's marriage to remain strong, that they would prefer each other in love and uphold each other as they work and minister together.
- Pray for the Lord's favor—that God's hand would go before them in all they do and prepare a way for them. Pray for discernment for the Jonats in all that they do—that they would have the mind of Christ dealing with the issues they face.
Praise Reports
Your persevering prayer has accomplished much and God has been gracious:
- Tembi and Karis completed grade 2 and made the A-B honor role. Well done, girls.
- We have had NO break-in attempts since last June. Please keep praying for our protection!
- The second Orphan Feeding Center has been completed, with the assistance of Pastor Dan Adam and the team from Nanaimo, BC.
- In the last few months over 1500 Bags of Hope were given out, which means that 1500 children have new school supplies and treats that brings a smile to their faces!
- A new sewing machine is going to allow Lorrie to employ a husband and wife to make cloth bags. This assists us in making more Bags of Hope and provides employment for a family that would otherwise be destitute.
- Peoples church Sunday School has raised enough money to make 600 new Bags!
Praise God for all He has done!
